This year 85 events across the state have been registered as part of Peace Week Delaware’s calendar of events.
Among the sponsors of these programs is PEOPLE to PEOPLE International-Delaware Chapter. PTPI-DE works to create lasting cross-cultural connections between everyday citizens around the world to help them explore global issues, serve and enrich their diverse communities, and become more effective leaders in creating a more peaceful world.
Our Peace Week guest speaker, DETV founder, Ivan Thomas, often called “Big Ive,” is one of the most recognizable faces in Delaware. An award-winning local producer, director, editor, online activist and relentlessly positive community organizer, Ivan Thomas is a lifelong resident of Delaware and a graduate of DelState University.
Ivan Thomas understands the science and psychology of film, media marketing and advertising, and he loves communicating and creating through this medium. Beyond his video work, Ivan teaches Positive Media/Film at Kuumba Academy, a city charter school focusing on closing the achievement gap in the city of Wilmington through creativity and scholarship. Ivan and his creative partner, Shoshana Kohn, established the movement #WEARELOVE, a campaign focusing on building relationships and promoting communication between diverse groups of community members.
