PEOPLE TO PEOPLE DELAWARE INVITES YOU TO A CIRCLE OF UNDERSTANDING
FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
Join us for a presentation of the rich, enduring history and traditions of this Northern European Country. We will explore known ancient migration patterns that drove the formation and expansion of these Baltic-state people through the eyes of two US women of Lithuanian ancestry. One speaker’s grandparents migrated to the US in the early 1900’s and the other migrated shortly after the Soviet Union recognized Lithuania as an independent country in 1991.
This discussion highlights Lithuania’s long-term and complex relationship with the Soviet Union and the resulting geo-political and economic challenges that faced both these women’s families and migrants of their time. We will also highlight Lithuania’s recent victories-an enduring cultural history, impressive economic growth and modernization.
