Global Youth Murals 2019
People to People Delaware had the privilege of leading the 2019 Global Youth Mural Event at the Claymont Boys and Girls Club last week. Eight middle school students talked about the values of peace, non-violence and embracing diversity, and worked with the theme One People, One World. The students were remarkably engaged, creative and hard working. This is a project that is happening in countries throughout the world. The Delaware murals will travel to many countries to spread the word of cooperation, respect and friendship. Many thanks to the terrific team at the Boys and Girls Club who helped to make this project a success. Thank you also to our artist in residence, Ms. Eunice Lafate, who has a longstanding commitment to working with kids and the greater Wilmington community. The murals will be premiered, along with other murals from around the world, at the Lafate Gallery at 227 N. Market St., Wilmington, from 5-8:30PM during the Wilmington Art Loop on September 6th. We hope to see you there!

2018 People to People International Mural Information Sheet
The Delaware chapter of People to People International is hosting this unique project to engage youth in cultural awareness and peace- building skills while creating a hanging mural together.
Two locations and times are being offered:
Friday July 27th (4-6pm) & Saturday July 28th (9am-12pm) at The Lafate Gallery, 227 N Market St, Wilmington, DE 19801
Friday August 3rd (4-6pm) & Saturday August 4th (9am-Noon) at The Boston Street Gallery, 2539 East Boston Street Philadelphia, PA 19125.
In keeping with the spirit of the Mural Friendly, youth agree to maintain a non-competitive, respectful atmosphere that fosters friendship, trust, and peace. Sessions will include each youth sharing about their culture/ traditions, and learning how many countries make our world great.
An artist with international background and PTPDE board members will lead each group in brainstorming and designing a (free hanging) mural. Please note activities to develop this year’s theme will be the focus on Friday and the mural will only be made on Saturday. Youth must attend both days to take part in creating the mural.
Ages 8-19 can participate in this FREE project. Youth will work in groups based on age to show the “salad bowl” diversity of Delaware. Each group will be no more than 5-6 youth so they have enough time to share and create the mural that will then travel around the world thru PTPI chapters!
Please email if you want more details or to receive and complete a registration form no later than July 7th.
