Youth Art Project

People to People Delaware participates in an annual youth art project. Local award winning artist, Eunice Lafate, helps local children through the local Boys and Girls Club to translate their ideas of peace into visual concepts that bring the theme to life in their artwork. The children's artwork is traditionally displayed at various places all around the world to promote Peace Through Understanding and we are very proud of this community event.

Enjoy the vibrant art and thoughtful messages from the students shown below!

HOPE AND RESILIENCE: A PATHWAY TO PEACE

2022 marks the 7th year that People to People Delaware has sponsored an annual Youth Art Program in New Castle County.

Every year we strive to promote the values of peace, diversity and global engagement, as well as foster interest and confidence in creating art. Ms. Eunice LaFate, an award winning folk artist in Delaware, and a key member of our team, has participated in all of our Youth Art Programs. She believes that everyone is an artist and her energy and creativity inspires students in their artistic endeavors.

PTPDE is pleased to partner with the Boys and Girls Club of Delaware offering this program to both middle and high-school students since 2019. Our 2022 Youth Art Project was held on August 3-4 with 13 middle-school students at the Newark Boys and Girls Club.

Our theme, HOPE AND RESIIENCE: A PATHWAY TO PEACE, was inspired by the escalating mental health issues for adolescents since the COVID pandemic. These engaging and impressive murals, along with other Delaware and international youth murals, will be displayed at our Peace Week event at the Academy for Peace on October 9, 2022. PTPDE is very grateful to the Delaware Division of the Arts for grants supporting this program since 2021.

Former Youth Art themes have included KNOW JUSTICE; KNOW PEACE and UNITE FOR JUSTICE; UNITE FOR PEACE. Themes highlighted in the student’s 2022 murals included strength, perseverance, cooperation, acceptance, faith, resilience, peace and hope. Enjoy pictures from this and past years shown below.
